Rebrov joined the Russian Army in 1915. He witnessed the dissolution of the army in 1917, and subsequently went to Petrozavodsk and Murmansk. Murmansk, where he worked as an accountant, was taken over by Allied troops in 1918. In the next year he joined general Evgeniĭ Miller's army, served briefly at the front, and then retreated with his unit to Finland. From the description of Nikolai Rebrov Memoirs, 1956.
